Located in north eastern Houston, Hedwig Village is an independent city that is surrounded completely by Houston and other suburban areas. Hedwig Village is a suburban city in all senses and that is precisely what makes Hedwig Village such a popular place with many people. The city itself is really quite small with only around 2000 residents at any given time but that it somewhat expected from a suburban city located so close to downtown Houston.
Hedwig Village actually has quite a bit of history behind it as well which makes it stand out from many of the other neighborhoods in the area. Originally Hedwig Village was formed by a group of German immigrants and as more and more began to move to the area Hedwig Village eventually became a complete city. Much of the German history and tradition is still present in the city today which gives the area a unique look and feel compared to other places in Houston. In the mid 1950s Hedwig Village was officially incorporated; because of this the city was not annexed by Houston like all of the other areas surrounding Hedwig Village.
Given the fact that Hedwig Village is a suburban city located within Houston it is not surprising to find that it is a very convenient place to live. Obviously commuting to Houston for work will only take about 10 to 15 minutes so it is a very conveniently located city in that regard. There is also plenty of shopping and dining to be had in and around Hedwig Village which insures you will never have to travel far to find anything and everything you could possibly need. Hedwig Village is also home to the Hedwig Park which is owned and operated by the city as an outdoor entertainment area; this and other parks in the area are a great way to spend some time outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. Overall Hedwig Village is a very quaint and relaxed suburban city located just outside of downtown Houston; if you are looking for somewhere to live that is out of the way while still being close enough to the city that everything is convenient then you should definitely consider the Hedwig Village area. There really aren't many other neighborhoods in the Houston area that are as unique and exciting as Hedwig Village is.
