Wilmer Information
The town of Wilmer Texas is a suburb of the Dallas/Fort Worth area and for more than the past 150 years Wilmer has been occupied by residents. Originally in 1850 early settlers began to move in to the area and thanks to railroad development more and more people began to move into the area. As west ward expansion took place even more people began to move to Texas and Wilmer and ever since then the population has been growing steadily.
Currently however Wilmer is home to around 4000 people according to recent census estimates. Many of Wilmer's residents commute to work in downtown Dallas since it is only about 15 miles away; a short drive up interstate 45 connects Wilmer and the entire metropolis of Dallas which makes Wilmer a great place for commuters to live. As expected Wilmer is home to numerous schools and educational facilities which makes it a popular choice for families moving to the Dallas/Fort Worth area as well.
Among other things Wilmer has a very active parks and recreation department which puts on numerous children's and other outdoor activities. These activities are also great for families in the area plus there are numerous public parks within the Wilmer. Housing and rental properties are also numerous in Wilmer so there is never a shortage of opportunities to move to the area if you are interested in the city.
As with any suburban area there are plenty of shopping centers and malls within a short drive as well. Wilmer and nearby suburban cities offer more than enough in the way shopping and entertainment and with Dallas just a short drive away there is absolutely never a shortage of things to do within the area. If you are looking for a nice suburban town near Dallas then Wilmer is definitely worth looking at; it is much closer to the city than many other suburbs and it has some unique and interesting history which make Wilmer an interesting town. Wilmer is also known for creating great rental opportunities as a way to draw in new residents so that is definitely worth taking a look at as well. Overall Wilmer is just a good place to consider when looking at suburban cities near Dallas; it might not have all of the things you are looking for in a suburb but the location and transportation options available in Wilmer might just make it the best place for you to live.
