Halfway between Dallas and Denton lies the city of Corinth. Corinth is bisected vertically by the extremely busy I-35E corridor, which shuttles commuters back and forth from big-D to its university-town neighbor in the north (Denton).
Ostensibly a commuter town, traffic is always a consideration for those relocating to Corinth. There are three main travel corridors: I-35E, FM 2181, and Corinth Parkway. A fourth corridor, the proposed FM 2499 highway, will cross Lake Lewisville on the western boundary of Corinth.
Aside from proposed FM 2499, there are other developments underway that will affect future traffic: A multi-point light rail and bus system is heading south courtesy of the Denton County Transportation Authority (www.dcta.net). The 22-mile light-rail will pass through Corinth on its way, via DART connections, to downtown Dallas. And the IH-35E widening project, intended to improve flow along the interstate (www.dot.state.tx.us), is estimated to begin construction in 2012.
The Boulevard Apartments broke ground on a 15-acre tract to construct a 193 unit, up-scale, urban-professional complex. The $20 million development features a 4,044 square foot clubhouse, resort-style swimming pool, and a large private park with 15 acres of landscaped boulevards and green spaces. The units will feature granite countertops, bamboo flooring, kitchen islands, and garden tubs. The property, scheduled to open in June, 2011, will offer residents a business center, internet cafe and a 24-hour fitness center.
Corinth is located within the Denton and the Lake Dallas ISDs. It has 12 developed neighborhood parks and several hike/bike trails. Corinth is also home to the Oakmont Country Club and Golf Course. It has a youth basketball league, ages six and under, appropriately called the "little dribblers."
The city celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2010.
