Uptown, an area two miles north of the Dallas city center, is where the Somerset II Apartments are located. This neighborhood is known for its eclectic and diverse mixture of people and businesses. Uptown has quite a few restaurants and clubs. DISH is popular for its atmosphere and cuisine. Excellent barbecue can be found at Mike Anderson's BBQ House. Tex-Mex favorites are a staple at Mia's Tex-Mex Restaurant. The after dark spots are The Rose Room, Station 4, The Brick, and the Windmill Lounge.
Although transportation is excellent in this area, Uptown is very walkable. McKinney Avenue Transit Authority and the Dallas Area Regional Transit trains and buses make it easy for Somerset II residents to get around this neighborhood. Public and private elementary, middle and high schools offer children great educational opportunities. There are a number of public parks in the area. Dragon Park is small and peaceful. Reverchon Park has a playground, basketball, volleyball, baseball field, and tennis courts. Robert E. Lee Park is more dog friendly.
This area boosts a variety of thrift and consignment shops. There is Genesis Benefit Thrift Store, Gratitude Vintage Clothing and Dulce Interior Consignment Showplace. For new items, J. Douglas Design is a wonderful spot for high-end furniture. Grocery shopping can be done at Kroger, El Rio Grande Supermercado, Whole Foods Market, and The Uptown Farmers Market.
Somerset II offers studio, one and two bedroom floor plans. These apartments are equipped with walk-in closets, wall-to-wall carpet, disposals, stacked washers/dryers, mini-blinds, pantries, patio/balconies, and dishwashers.
This is a pet friendly community which also has surface lot covered parking, gated access, a pool, and laundry facilities.
